The opportunity

The ceiling was language

Fusalp was founded in the Alps in 1952 and brings real tailoring to high performance skiwear. Premium, highly technical, unmistakably French. For a house like this the website is not a sales channel, it is a digital flagship, and internationally it is usually the first place a customer meets the brand at all.

The operations were already solved. A partnership from late 2023 handled international payments, taxes and duties, and the business scaled quickly on the back of it. Two years later it hit a hard ceiling, and the ceiling was language. Someone about to spend serious money on a technical ski outfit needs to understand the fabrics and the construction before they commit. Asking them to do that in a language they do not read fluently does not slow the sale down, it ends it.

That turned localization from a nice to have into a condition of further growth. The open question was how to get there without repeating what had already failed twice.

A German-language search ad beside an English product page, with click-through rising and bounce rate rising further.

A German ad that lands on an English page spends the trust it just bought.

Challenges

Six things in the way

High value, highly technical product that needs detailed reassurance, available only in French and English
A growth ceiling reached even though the operational side of cross-border was already handled
South Korea entered through a traditional translation agency: slow, wildly expensive, and the market never came good
Germany run as localized Google Ads pointing at an English site, so click-through went up and bounce rate went up much further
Market selection reduced to intuition, with every new market a heavy upfront bet
A winter peak that does not wait for a market by market rollout

What we put in place

One store, twenty-four storefronts

Fusalp abandoned the sequential model and launched 24 languages at once. Not just the storefront: Google Shopping feeds and Meta catalogues were localized alongside it, so a German ad now lands on a German experience instead of breaking trust at the click. Any new content the team creates, a seasonal campaign landing page for example, exists in all 24 languages the moment it goes live in French.

The team did not grow to carry it. Fusalp manages one store, its domestic store, exactly as before. A new size guide, a review block, a product recommendation carousel, all of it renders automatically across every localized version. No export, no import, no translation files to chase, no extra headcount.

One French source product record feeding localized storefront cards in German, Italian, Dutch and Swedish.

One product record in French, twenty-four storefronts updated without anyone touching them.

Results

28% growth in the first season

Across every market fully translated with Glopal, Fusalp has grown 28% year on year. That is one season of a partnership whose slowest compounding channel has barely started, because organic search takes months to index, rank and build. The number is a floor, not a ceiling.

The deeper change is how the brand now decides where to spend. Instead of choosing a country and hoping, Fusalp launches broad and watches for the signals: early traction, steady organic traffic, improving conversion, efficient paid performance. Where demand is real it invests heavily. Where it is not, it pulls back and loses nothing. Speed became the strategic advantage, because a market not opened this year is a market a competitor takes instead.

A market performance table showing organic traction and conversion by country, with paid marketing switched on for Germany.

Launch broad, then let the markets nominate themselves.

“You cannot bet everything on heavy upfront translation in one or two markets. That is too much risk for any brand to carry.”
